Warren Ellis: The Old Bastard

Zachary mentioned Warren Ellis in another thread, which reminded me of an interesting column Ellis wrote a few years ago. It's called "The Old Bastard's Manifesto," and it attempts to define (however crudely) what Ellis sees developing in the comics industry at the turn of the 21st century. It's a short but wild read. Give it a spin.

And while you're at it, check out Ellis' main website, www.warrenellis.com. If you spend any amount of time here, you'll quickly realize Mr. Ellis has to crowbar in extra time for sleep; the man simply does not rest.

It would be nice if Warren Ellis would get over trying to be some sort of " Rock Star" and then maybe I could focus on his work a little more then his persona. That aside, I feel for the last six years Ellis has unmasked and brought to the spotlight why the comics industry has been barren camp of recycled ideas. Ellis attacks everyone from the leaders of the industry to the individual retailers and artist/creators all the way down the chain to the consumer or (fanboy) as Ellis likes to call 'em. I am in complete agreement with Ellis in all his criticism and accusations and dream of the day when I can walk into any comic book store and search by title of author or artist!
